Study of population dynamics and behavioral ecology of Barbary Macaques of Setti-Fatma

Research on the ecology of different groups of Setti-Fatma macaques: diet, distribution of energy budget, sexual and social adaptations, home range (missing data for the third population of Barbary macaques in the 7th cascade), dynamics of populations (number of individuals, age structure of the population, sex ratio, fertility and mortality rates). These surveys for each group of Barbary macaques will lead to a comparison to show the impacts of human-ape conflicts in Setti-Fatma.

Expansion of naturalist and tourist hikes and environmental education

ZAATOT wishes the success of naturalist and ecotourism hikes for tourists but also for students and schools.

Improve communication with the guides and make them aware of the riches of Setti-Fatma and the need to protect them.

ZAATOT would like to carry out awareness-raising actions in French and Moroccan schools.

Environmental education is a need for future generations to understand the importance of preserving biodiversity.

Take action for better waste management

Carry out awareness-raising actions on waste management in Setti-Fatma, but also intervene directly in the collection of waste in waterfalls and rivers.

ZAATOT, the Bureau des guides, the National Water and Forests Agency as well as the Gîte des Cascades wish to set up waste collection actions, in particular during the Nature Club, to encourage tourists who consent to pick up waste during their climb. at the waterfalls, or during hikes.

We also want to find a way to manage restaurant waste.
