Completed actions
Since 2009, date of the first study conducted by the Semlalia Faculty at the request of the Toubkal National Park to estimate the population of Barbary Macaques in the Upper Ourika Valley, actions have taken place every year to better identify the threats. on macaques and propose operations capable of ensuring their sustainability in the valley.
Current actions
Several actions are underway to promote the population of Barbary Macaques: projects for the conservation and restoration of the monkey's habitat, studies and monitoring of damage caused to crops or demographic dynamics. An ecotourism component has recently been added to raise awareness and discover the monkey and the Ourika Valley.
Future actions
For the 2021-2023 period, new actions are planned: the continuation of the work of previous years on the dynamic demography of the monkey population and the setting up of an ecotourism stay in the High Atlas.
